How many of its strains have a human trial for what it is sold for
Across the frozen founding cohort, 0 of 294 organism slots (0.0%) carry an organism with a human randomised controlled trial for any male-specific outcome. Not for this product — for all 27 of the founding teardowns, taken together. That is the number to hold against any men’s probiotic, including this one.
Two further founding-cohort figures for context: only 43 of 294 organism slots carry a strain with any human RCT at all under the exact code printed on the label, and only 2 of 27 products have a published human trial of the finished formula — the thing actually in the bottle. All three figures divide by the frozen cohort of 27 teardowns and 294 organism slots, never by every teardown on this site.
A word on what a designator has to clear before it counts here. The organism must be named with the exact strain code that appears in the trial, the trial must be in humans, and the code must return that trial when a reader searches it. A species name does not qualify: the trials in this field are of strains, and a species contains thousands of them.

How it differs from the same brand’s women’s version
Across the fourteen same-brand men’s-versus-women’s label diffs run inside the frozen founding cohort, zero men’s or default formulas contain a probiotic strain, identified by designator, that was selected on male-specific evidence. In eight of the fourteen the sex-specific differentiator is a botanical or a mineral, and in five of the fourteen the women’s SKU is better-specified, cheaper, or both — “better-specified” meaning the panel that discloses more, never the panel with more in it. The rule behind each of those counts, and all fourteen pairs classified against it , are published in full. Finding 6 four-years-biological-age-improvement-from-uncontrolled-self-report
"4 years Average biological age improvement within 12 months" sits in a statistics row with "90% Feel measurable improvements within 90 days" and "67% Report better sleep within 90 days". The footnote is present and correctly placed — "Aggregated from self-reported outcomes, 2,800+ members. Individual results vary." A self-reported survey among self-selected paying subscribers with no control group cannot measure biological age at all. The metric and the method do not match. Note also "feel" and "measurable" occupying the same clause.

Viome claims no NSF, no USP, no Informed Choice, no Non-GMO Project and no GMP registrar for this product. The only quality language is self-descriptive — "Vegetarian, non-GMO, allergen-free. No synthetic fillers, no artificial colors, no dubious additives. Ever." This is a different failure mode from most of this category, and it deserves saying plainly: there is nothing to check at an issuer because nothing has been asserted that would need checking.

Viome says results are "matched against our library of clinically validated probiotic strains and prebiotic fibers" and that every ingredient comes from a "portfolio of 200+ clinically studied options". No member of that portfolio is named. Two independent searches for a published Viome strain portfolio returned nothing. The claim being made here is narrow and deliberate — no strain list for this product is discoverable on Viome's public site or via search. It is not a claim that no such library exists; customers may well see named strains inside their account after testing, and no test was purchased.

- Take any strain designator from the panel and run the query printed beside it. The query is published precisely so you can get a different answer than we did.
- Divide the price by the number of days the label’s own dose instructions make the container last. That arithmetic is the whole of the cost-per-day row.
- Search the certifier’s own register for this product, not for the brand. A company can participate in a programme without this product being on its list.
Every question on this site is unanswerable for this product before you buy it. That is not an oversight; it is the architecture.

So this page declines to score — one of the only twelve teardowns in this audit that do. There is no CFU grade here, no designator count, no organism table, no cost per day. Publishing any of those would mean manufacturing them. A label that does not exist cannot be audited, and pretending otherwise would be the exact failure this project was built to document in other people’s work.
What can be checked is what a buyer sees before paying, and three things there are worth naming. The link labelled “See full ingredient list” does not lead to an ingredient list — the only destinations in the page source are the science page and a sibling product page, and that sibling page contains zero occurrences of “Lactobacillus”, “Bifidobacterium”, “CFU” or “strain”. The ingredient count contradicts itself across two of Viome’s own pages: “~50 Personalized ingredients” here, “~22 Ingredients per formula on average” there. And the headline outcome statistic — “4 years Average biological age improvement within 12 months” — is footnoted, correctly and in Viome’s own words, as “Aggregated from self-reported outcomes”. A satisfaction survey among self-selected paying subscribers with no control arm cannot measure biological age. The disclaimer is honest; the metric is not what the method can produce.
Now the harder half, because this file has to be fair. Viome asserts no fake certifications. Where almost every competitor prints seals whose issuers cannot be reached, Viome prints none, and that is a materially better failure mode. Its regulatory language is the most careful in its batch. Its disclaimers are placed where a reader meets them rather than buried. Its outcome statistics are footnoted with their own methodology, which is more than the brands publishing equivalent numbers do. Bacteriophages are a genuine formulation differentiator that nothing else in this project’s universe carries.
And its central argument — that one-size-fits-all gender segmentation is unscientific, that the right unit is the individual rather than the sex — is correct, and it is this site’s finding too. Viome simply replaces a segmentation that cannot be substantiated with one that cannot be audited, and charges $279 for the privilege of finding out.
